1922 ~ 2003

Mack A Halladay, 81, Provo, passed away May 24, 2003, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. His family was at his bedside.

He was born March 25, 1922, in Provo to Albert C and Maudie Nelson Halladay. He married Merle Terry Nov 17, 1942. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was a longtime member of the Provo 2nd Ward.

He attended school in Provo and graduated from Provo High School. As a young man he played American Legion Baseball and served in the Utah National Guard.

He was a locomotive engineer with the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad for 41 years. After retiring, he and his wife enjoyed many years traveling with Sunburst Sams Chapter of the Good Sam Organization. He served as the wagon master for a number of those years. His love for the outdoors was shared with his family and friends on countless hunting and fishing trips. His other passions were raising quarter horses and boating.

Mack loved people and was always willing to help anyone in need. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, brother, Elmo, and sister, Maudie Verbeck. Survivors include his wife of Provo; four sons and one daughter, Roger (Jane) Halladay, Cedar City, UT, Steven (Laura) Halladay, Tucson, AZ, Alan (Pat) Halladay, Orem, UT, Mark (Robin) Halladay, Provo, UT, Julie (Glen) Olsen, Orem, UT; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services, Wed. May 28, 2003, 11 a.m. Provo City Cemetery, 610 S. State. Friends may call at Berg Mortuary, 185 E. Center St, Provo, 9-10:30 a.m. prior to services.
