Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Alan Coulam Busath, passed away May 23, 2003 in Provo, Utah, at the age of 78, due to complications following surgery.

He was born July 10, 1924 in Salt Lake City, UT to Stephen Eric Busath and Hazel Barton. He grew up in Sacramento, CA with his four brothers.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in World War II, occupied Germany and in the Korean War. He married Loris Joy Holbrook; graduated from Stanford University, masters in Electrical Engineering; then reared his family in San Jose, CA where he resided 35 years. He worked for IBM over 30 years. Following Joy's death he married Althea Elaine Kimball.

Alan was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many capacities including bishop, counselor in the stake presidency, and district president. He served four missions, two to Norway (one with his wife, Elaine), Oakland Temple Visitors Center, and as a Stake Missionary.

Alan is preceded in death by two brothers, Barton, Richard, and his wife, Joy Holbrook Busath. He is survived by two brothers, Charles, Douglas Busath, Sacramento, CA; current wife of 17 years, Elaine Busath, Orem, UT; children, Sandy (Bruce) Alger, American Fork, UT, Jan (Gregg) Wright Orem, UT, Nancy (Scott) Jensen, Claudia (Mark) Laugenour, Edward (Mary) Busath, Kathy (Greg) Hardester all of San Jose, CA; step-children, Greg (Kristan) Anderson, St. George, UT, Alan (Debbi) Anderson Heber, UT, Kim (James)Dahlin Auburn, CA, Paul (Christi) Anderson, Kenneth (Rebecca) Anderson all of Highland, UT; 47 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be Wed. May 28, 11 a.m. River Ridge LDS First Ward chapel, 1120 E. 600 N. Interment, Los Gatos Memorial Park, San Jose, CA. Directors, Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary.
