R. Jordan Swain, 85, loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather quietly passed away May 24, 2003 in Bountiful, Utah.
Born April 1, 1918 in Monroe, Utah to Albert Ray and Eliza Hope Magleby Swain. R.J. spent most of his childhood in South Dakota where he excelled in sports including all state honors in golf and basketball. He attended the University of Colorado, University of Utah and earned a degree in accounting from BYU. After graduation he served four years with the Army in the Pacific during World War II. The end of the war brought him to Salt Lake City where he met and married Edith Darley who has been his constant companion for nearly 60 years. They moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho in 1952 where he worked for the Atomic Energy Commission until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife Edith D. Swain, sons and spouses William and Helen Smith, Fairfax, VA; David and Nancy Swain, Tulsa, OK; John and Jill Swain, Farmington, UT; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Friends and family are invited to help celebrate R.J.'s life, Wednesday May 28, 2003 from 6-8 p.m. at Lindquist's Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E.
Graveside services will be held at noon Thursday May 29, 2003 at the Wellsville, Utah City Cemetery.
