Our loving Father, Grandfather and Brother, Ross Thrower Holdaway passed away, Saturday, May 24, 2003.

Ross was born July 22, 1922, in Provo, Utah, a son of Walter R. and Edna Knudsen Holdaway. He graduated from Lincoln High, (Orem) in the class of 1940. Ross married Erna Rogers January 10, 1941 in Salt Lake City. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple, March 18, 1942.

Ross was a successful farmer and dairyman in Vineyard. He drove a school bus and spent many enjoyable hours driving the children of Vineyard and Orem. He loved to sing in the Barber Shop Chorus, Skyline Chapter. He loved fishing, reading, and playing games with his family.

Ross was active in The Church of

Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a Seventies President, Stake Sunday School Superintendent and other church callings. Ross and Erna served a mission to the Mesa, Arizona Temple Visitors Center. They were Temple workers at the Provo and Mt. Timpanogos Temples. Ross loved the Lord and loved serving him. He was a dedicated father and husband.

His sweetheart, Erna, passed away in January 1995 and thereafter his joy was never quite the same. He married Melba Edwards Carter July 12, 1995. (They later divorced.)

He is survived by his children, Phillip (Dianne) Holdaway, Sun Prairie Wisconsin; David (Janet) Holdaway, Pleasant Grove, Utah; Wendall (Sherry) Holdaway, Pleasant Grove, Utah; Yvonne (Richard) Kunz, Corvallis, Oregon and Marvin Holdaway, Orem, Utah; a brother, Robert Holdaway and a sister Lyle Facer, sisters-in-law, Inez Gardner and LaRue Rogers, a brother-in- law Grath (Verna) Rogers. Ross has 34 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.

Ross T. Holdaway has returned home to rejoin his wife, Erna; their son Ivan and wife Maryann Holdaway and their daughters Marilee and Maryann; daughter LeAnne and husband Carl Virchow and their four sons, Paul, David, James and Mark Virchow; and his parents, brothers Clyde and Howard, and other relatives. Great is the joy in this family reunion.

Funeral services will be Saturday May, 31 at 11:00 a.m. in the Vineyard Ward Chapel, 800 South Geneva Road. A viewing will be held Friday evening at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem from 7 to 9:00 p.m. and at the Chapel on Saturday morning from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the funeral service. Burial East Lawn Memorial Hills Cemetery.
