"Our Alice"
Our "spunky" beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Alice Partington Jensen, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2003 at the age of 85 after a gutsy battle with asthma and "old age." "If I'd have known I was gonna live this long, I would have taken better care of myself."
Alice Partington was born in Middleton, Manchester, England on January 4, 1918 to Alice Partington and a family who cared for, adored and loved her. Attended school in Middleton, graduated at 16, worked in her aunt's pub, a cotton factory and ammunition plant. She met, fell in love with and married her blond, blue eyed American soldier on January 17, 1945 while he was serving in the US Army during World War II. Later immigrated to the US aboard the Queen Mary in March 1946 and traveled by train to Salt Lake City settling in Manti, Utah.
She was a "scrapper" who worked hard at many jobs to help provide for and protect her family when times were tough. She taught her daughters the value of hard work and endurance. She loved to dance, kept an immaculate home, was a great cook, and card shark that gave us the gift of laughter. When she spoke you listened, she had a "good head on her shoulders" and "wasn't a bad old bird." Her absence leaves a void in our lives and a huge hole in our hearts - sleep well, enjoy this new adventure "Till we meet again, Momma!"
Alice is survived by her daughters, Carol (Charles) Keller, Lois Jensen, Patricia (Bill) Spere; 16 grandchildren; 13
great-grandchildren who all adore her; her brother Derrick Johnson; cousin, Edith (Fred) Simpson; sister-in-law, Phyllis Knapp; nieces, nephews and friends Betty Poulson and Elsie Brookes. She is preceded in death by her husband Ross Jensen and grandson, Michael Besse.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, May 30, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, where loved ones may call from 9:30 - 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment-Bountiful City Cemetery, 2020 South 200 West.
The family would like to express our deep appreciation to Dr. Southworth and the wonderful staff at South Davis Community Hospital for the kind and gentle care so many of them gave our mother.
