Eldon Layton Reese, 88, of Springville, was called home to his Heavenly Father on May 24, 2003.

He was born June 21, 1914 in Bloomington, Idaho to Lotwick and Mary Jane John Reese. He graduated from BYU in 1936. He was married in the Salt Lake Temple to Venna Allman on September 15, 1936. They had eight children, two girls and six boys. His pride and joy was his family. He loved the beauty of nature and liked to camp and fish. He enjoyed reading and traveling.

Eldon served as an LDS Bishop and went on a mission with Venna to the Washington D.C. Temple. He served in the Provo Temple for 20 years. He was a high school teacher at Springville High and the Vocational Director of the Nebo School District. He was president of the Kiwanis Club and a member for 60 years.

He is survived by his wife, Venna Allman, five sons and two daughters. Jane (John) Besendorfer, Charleston, UT; Wayne (Sharon) Reese, Sandy; John (Launa) Reese, Highland; Paul (Sharon) Reese, Orem; Dale (Rachel) Reese, Sandy; Brent (Diane) Reese, Orem; and Loralee (Scott) Holt, Ft. Collins, CO; 33 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 31, 2003 at 11 a.m. in the LDS Ward Chapel, 840 South 400 East in Springville. Friends may call on Friday, May 30, 2003 from 6-8 p.m. at the Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South, Springville or at the church one hour prior to services. Interment will be at the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
