DENVER — Larry Walker drove in four runs, helping right-hander Aaron Cook and the Colorado Rockies snap the Los Angeles Dodgers' 10-game winning streak, 7-3 on Tuesday night.
The Rockies tagged Kazuhisa Ishii (4-2) for five runs in the first inning, including Walker's two-run triple and a key error by first baseman Fred McGriff. Walker added a bases-loaded, two-run single off Guillermo Mota in the seventh.
The Dodgers' winning streak was their longest since they won 11 straight in 1993.
Cook (2-4) went 6 1/3 innings, allowing eight hits and three runs.
Ishii, who threw 43 pitches in the first inning, didn't allow a hit over the next four innings.
BRAVES 3, REDS 2, 10 innings: In Atlanta, Chipper Jones led off with the bottom of the 10th inning with a homer, giving the Atlanta Braves a 3-2 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday night. Jones hit a 1-0 pitch from Chris Reitsma (3-2) into the left-field seats as the teams went to extra innings for the second day in a row. Cincinnati lost for the first time in 10 games this season when tied after eight innings.
METS 4, PHILLIES 2: In Philadelphia, Al Leiter pitched six shutout innings and Jeromy Burnitz hit a two-run homer, leading the New York Mets to a 4-2 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday night. The Mets have won four of six, including three straight against the Phillies. Philadelphia has dropped five of six. Leiter (5-2) allowed two hits, struck out eight and walked six. He was removed after throwing 136 pitches, including full counts on 16 batters. Armando Benitez recorded the final four outs for his 15th save in 19 opportunities.
PIRATES 9, CUBS 4: In Chicago, Kenny Lofton extended his hitting streak to 25 games, and Aramis Ramirez had four hits for Pittsburgh. Ramirez finished 4-for-5 with an RBI, four days after getting four hits against St. Louis. Kris Benson (5-5) won a start in May for only the second time in two years. He allowed four runs and seven hits over 7 2/3 innings. Lofton extended his streak with a leadoff double in the third.
ASTROS 7, CARDINALS 4: In St. Louis, Jeriome Robertson beat St. Louis for the second straight start, and Jeff Kent homered and had three hits for Houston. The Astros rallied from a 3-1 fourth-inning deficit to snap a three-game losing streak. Kent, Craig Biggio and Jeff Bagwell combined for 10 hits and four RBIs.
BREWERS 4, PADRES 2: In San Diego, pinch-hitters Brady Clark and Keith Ginter had consecutive two-run singles with two outs in the ninth inning Tuesday night, rallying the Milwaukee Brewers past the San Diego Padres 4-2 in a matchup of the NL's worst teams. It was the 25th loss in 29 games for the Padres, who started the day percentage points ahead of Detroit for the worst record in the majors.
ARIZONA AT SAN FRANCISCO - The Diamondbacks and Giants were tied 2-2 in the bottom of the 11th at press time.
MARLINS-EXPOS RAINED OUT: After a weekend of good fortune, this is the last thing the Florida Marlins wanted — a rainout. The Marlins, winners of four straight after losing six in a row, had their game against the Montreal Expos postponed on Tuesday because of rain. The teams will play a doubleheader on Wednesday, with the first game at 3:05 p.m. MDT.
