Michael Poff claims that wearing or not wearing a seat belt doesn't affect him. Lucky man! When someone such as Holly Chamberlain has an accident on the highway and needs help to get to the hospital and needs care (sometimes long-term), it may very well affect me. Who pays for the air flight to a trauma center? Who pays for the care at the hospital and afterwards when serious injury results from the choice to sit on the seat belt?

Poff thinks he doesn't?

Common sense doesn't hold a driver or passenger in place while the vehicle is tumbling through the barrow pit or crossing the median into me or others as we approach. Common sense doesn't keep an unbelted back seat passenger from coming over the front seat of the vehicle.

Mr. Poff and others are wrong, claims of common sense notwithstanding.
