Don J. Kempton, age 76, passed away Monday, May 26, 2003 after an accident while helping a neighbor.

He was born in Payson, Utah on April 19, 1927 to Caroline Moore and Elmer J. Kempton. He married Anna Andrus June 1, 1948. They were later sealed in the Manti LDS Temple.

Don is survived by his wife, Anna; their five children: Patricia (David) Terry, Craig (Charlotte) Kempton, Kathy (Don) Jex, Brian (Jennifer) Kempton, Scott (Kim) Kempton; 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grand-children. Also surviving are his sisters, Ruth Bryant and Linda McKinnon; and his brother, Howard Kempton. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; his sister, Carol Park; and brother, Junior Kempton.

Don worked at Geneva Steel for 39 years. He was a veteran of World War II serving in Germany 1945-1946. Don was an active member of the LDS Church, serving as bishop, stake high councilman, and longtime scout leader. He and Ann served missions in Papua New Guinea, Bristol England, and Nauvoo Illinois. He was currently serving at the MTC in Provo. Don's joy came from serving others.

Funeral services will be Saturday, May 31, 2003 at 11 a.m. in the Spanish Fork 4th/10th Ward Chapel, 381 East 400 North. Friends may call on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Walker Family Mortuary, 187 South Main, Spanish Fork, and on Saturday at the church from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in the Provo City Cemetery.
