Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, Afton Niederhauser, passed away peacefully at her home Tuesday, May 27, 2003 in Salt Lake City.

She was born December 9, 1909 to Margaret Hjort and Parley P. Jones in Bingham Canyon, Utah. She married George L. Niederhauser on March 28, 1928 in the Logan Temple celebrating their 75th wedding anniversary this year. They had five children together.

Afton's life was defined by her dedication to family and commitment to community. She happily spent countless hours preparing and hosting holiday celebrations for the many members of her extended family. She was a fixture at the various activities enjoyed by all of her grandchildren -always present to provide some loving support. Afton's graciousness extended beyond her family to the many friends and neighbors who knew her warm and welcoming spirit. Afton was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She volunteered generously for the Relief Society, where she found particular joy in her visiting teaching; in addition, she served a number of years as a temple worker. During her life, Afton developed passions for gardening and cooking. She lived a wonderful life and her legacy will continue on in her family. She will be greatly missed.
