1917 ~ 2003

Frank Penovich, age 85, left this earthly life peacefully on May 28, 2003.

He was born December 23, 1917 in Tooele, Utah to Frank Penovich and Annie Hecimovich. He was one of 16 children, 11 grew to adulthood. He married Edith Myrle Christopherson on September 12, 1941. Frank was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on July 4, 1989 by his grandson, Frank LaMar Penovich, Jr. He and Edith, his beloved companion, were sealed for eternity to each other and to their children, LaMar and LuAnn, in the Jordan River Temple on September 12, 1990. At the time of his death, he was an active High Priest in the Tooele Seventh Ward. Frank worked at the Tooele International Smelter in Tooele for 16 years and retired from Kennecott Copper after 28 years of service. He was a hard worker all of his life. He loved to farm and work in his garden and kept a beautiful well-groomed yard. He was meticulous and very disciplined in his daily life. Things that were worth doing were worth doing right and on time irregardless of whether he felt like it or not at the time. Frank and Edith were a team, always enthusiastically and joyfully involved in giving compassionate service to others. He and Edith were totally devoted and committed to each other in their marriage, you would rarely see one without the other. Frank loved his friends, many of whom were affiliated with the Tooele Senior Citizens Center and the Son's of the Pioneers. He also cherished his association with The Tooele High School Class of 1938. Most of all, he loved his family. Family always came first.

Frank is survived by his wife, son, Frank LaMar (Millicent) Penovich, Sr.; daughter, Edith LuAnn (Sid) Allen; sisters, Mary Ambrose of Redwood City, California; and Tillie (George) Vitalie of Suisun, California; and many nieces and nephews. They also have eight great-grandchildren. Frank was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Paul Allen; and brothers, Nick, Joe, John, George; and sisters, Katherine, Anne, Minnie, Lucy; and five other infant siblings. The family wishes to express a very heart-felt thank you for the compassion and tender loving care given by Dr. Kenneth Schaecher, Dr. Charles Haws, Dr. Ronald Trudel, Dr. Perry Walters, Dr. Benjamin Krogh, the Mountain West Medical Center Staff, and the Rocky Mountain Care Center Staff.
