Mayor Jerry Washburn signed an interlocal agreement Tuesday for Orem to participate in the Utah Valley Consortium of Cities and Counties.

The UVCCC was formed to receive federal housing dollars from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development through the HOME Investment Partnership Act.

Washburn said it was a formality to allow the city to continue receiving federal funds and administer those funds as they have in the past. The UVCCC must be renewed with HUD every three years.

The Historical Preservation Committee opposed the original plans for the new station, designed to mirror the style of the new police building, saying it failed to maintain the historical look of the downtown area.

MHTN architects worked with the Historical Preservation Committee to redesign the plans.
