Clyde Benton went peacefully home to heaven and was reunited with Grandma Cochran, Mee Maw, Anna Mary, J.C. and JR. He passed Wednesday morning May 28, 2003 do to an unexpected illness.
He was born Aug. 25, 1952 in Dayton, TN, to Anna Mary Richie and James Allen Clark. Raised by John and Thelma Benton. Clyde spent his youth in Paducah, Kentucky. After graduating from high school, Clyde served two years in the U.S. Navy. He worked for the Florida Times Union in Jacksonville, Fl., and was circulation director for USA Today newspaper in Dallas, TX and Salt Lake City, Utah.
He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, gardening, yard work, and leisure activities with his family. He attended Southeast Baptist Church and Hilltop United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy Benton; and his three daughters, Laura, Rachel, and Brittany; his sister, Patricia, and many extended family members.
The funeral services and interment will be held in Jacksonville, FL. Memorial services will be held at the Southeast Baptist Church in Salt Lake City.
Clyde was a loving husband and father and we love him eternally to the moon and the stars.
