Jerald Musser Mather left mortality May 23, 2003 after a courageous two-year battle with melanoma.
Born July 9, 1942 to J. Lynden and Priscilla Musser Mather, Jerry filled his 60 years with service and adventure. He graduated from Granite High School and the University of Utah, served his country in the Utah Air National Guard, and his God on an LDS mission in eastern Canada and in many other callings and capacities throughout his life. He was an Area Supervisor in the Granite School District Transportation Department where he worked for 33 years. He volunteered many years of service to the Big Cottonwood Lower Canal and served the last several years as company president. He was an avid river rat and snowmobiler, and many enjoyed summertime whitewater river adventures and snowmobile trips to Yellowstone in the wintertime due to Jerry's efforts.
On September 25, 1980, Jerry married Sheryl Ridd in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They are parents of four daughters: Elly (Jason) Carter, Karly Megan, Kassidy and Kourtney. He will also be sorely missed by his brothers and sisters: Lynda (Rick) Rowley, L. Douglas (Kathy) Mather, Sallee (Stan) Demars, Jenna (Paul) Jackson, Robyn Reading, and Shane (Jeanne) Mather. Preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Steve Reading.
Funeral services will be Saturday, May 31, 2003 at the Ridgedale Ward Chapel, 3400 So. 1100 East, at 12:00 noon. Friends may visit Friday evening at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 E. 1300 So. from 6 to 8 p.m., and at the chapel from 10:30 - 11:45 a.m. prior to the services.
