Big 10 Player of the Year Brian Cook of Illinois and ACC Player of the Year Josh Howard of Wake Forest head a group of four NBA prospects working out for the Jazz today.
Mississippi State's Mario Austin, another potential first-round selection, and Willie Green of Detroit-Mercy, the Horizon League's Player of the Year, also are auditioning for Jazz brass in anticipation of the June 26 NBA draft.
Cook, a 6-foot-11 forward/center, led the Big 10 in scoring with an average of 20 points per game this past season.
Howard, a 6-7 small forward, led the ACC in scoring at 19.5 points per game and was third among conference rebounders with 8.3 boards per game.
Austin, a 6-9 power forward and first-team all-SEC selection, averaged 16.1 points and 7.6 rebounds, while Green, a 6-4 shooting guard, scored a Horizon conference-leading 22.6 points per game.
The Jazz select 19th in the first round of the annual draft and also have the second round's No. 47 overall pick.
STOCKTON TICKETS: All tickets good for free admission to the Jazz's tribute to retiring point guard John Stockton have been distributed, Jazz promotions Vice President Grant Harrison said Thursday.
Tickets to the June 7 event at the Delta Center were given away at Salt Lake-area Albertson's stores beginning Wednesday afternoon.
"They were gone within 15 minutes," Harrison said.
Those tickets are good for available upper-bowl seating on a first-come, first-served basis. Lower-bowl tickets were distributed previously to Jazz season-ticket holders, sponsors and VIPs.
But there is another way for fans without tickets to take part.
An outdoor block party on the Delta Center plaza also is planned, replete with clowns, face-painters, bands and a stadium-sized video screen simultaneously showing the ceremony inside the arena.
Tickets are not required for admission to the free block party, but vouchers good for a hot dog and a Coke at the outside event can be picked up at Salt Lake-area Albertson's stores beginning at 10 this morning.
NO LEBRON IN REVUE: Ten teams including the Jazz will be represented in the NBA's annual Rocky Mountain Revue summer league, but projected No. 1 overall draft pick LeBron James' future Cleveland Cavaliers are not one of them.
Jazz communications Vice President Dave Allred said Chicago, Dallas, Denver, New York, Phoenix, Portland, San Antonio and a combined Indiana-Philadelphia entry all are slated to take part in the summer league, which is scheduled July 18-26 at Salt Lake Community College.
The Cavs have taken part in past Revues, but they opted against participating this year — well before learning they would pick first in the June draft, enabling them to select Ohio high school-sensation James.
