CARSON CITY, Nev. — BYU's men's soccer team will try to get back into the win column against the same team it defeated in its first contest this season as the Cougars travel to face the Nevada Wonders. BYU (1-5) won the last meeting 3-0.

Friday's game starts at 8:30 p.m. MDT.

"We're expecting a battle," said BYU coach Chris Watkins. "It will be between two even teams. We must take advantage of our opportunities."

The Wonders have a half-dozen players from Europe on their current roster who were not available for the May 2 match. Meanwhile, BYU's roster numbers are headed the opposite direction, with only 15 players available from the 22 when the season began.

Captain Brad Peterson returns to the lineup after being pulled from Saturday's loss against the Orange County Blue Stars with a bruised foot. However, Matt Walker is still out with a concussion suffered in that game.

"We've been struggling on defense, but we've been working on getting better," Watkins said. "We've been working on scoring goals, working in front of the net and working with our offense. We've also focused on defense with our guys marking the opponents and shutting off attacks. We've also been working more on our offense because we're hoping to outscore these guys."
