PARK CITY — Glenwild, near Park City, has been rated by Golf Digest as the best course in Utah in the publication's 2003-2004 best in state rankings.
Golf Digest compiles the rankings by asking its nationwide panel of 844 low-handicap male and female golfers to judge courses, using the categories of shot values, resistance to scoring, design variety, memorability, aesthetics, conditioning, ambiance, and walkability. Panelists file evaluations electronically and Golf Digest averages the scores of the first six categories, doubles shot values, and then totals the averages. Scores for Ambiance and Walkability assist in awarding bonus Tradition points which honor tournament and architectural history. Walking points which reward courses that allow walking some or all of the time, are then added to the total to determine the Grand Total for each course. When the scores for the 2003-2004 were tallied, Glenwild ranked first for the state of Utah. "Our goal at Glenwild was to create an exquisite private community centered around a magnificent but challenging golf course," said Gregg Tryhus, of Grayhawk Development. "We're thrilled that the Golf Digest has recognized our achievements at Glenwild. This accolade is a wonderful compliment to our golf staff and course designer Tom Fazio but most importantly, it is a prestigious honor for our members."
The private par 71 course at Glenwild opened for its first full season in 2002 and was designed by Tom Fazio, known for creating golf that blends naturally with its environment.
"The private course at Glenwild is a spectacular golf experience, and our entire team is very honored to have been part of such a wonderful project," he said. Glenwild is a joint venture between developers DMB Associates, Inc. and Grayhawk Development and is being marketed exclusively by IMI Resort Holdings of Greenville, S.C. In addition to the award winning championship golf course, the 900 acre gated community features 195 homesites and a 37,000 square foot clubhouse that includes two dining venues, work out facility, heated lap pool, children's pool, golf shop and spa. Custom homesites, including membership, range in size from just under one acre to more than 7 acres. Prices begin in the $400,000's.
