A new postage stamp honoring the sacrifices of those in the military was unveiled at the Salt Lake Veterans Administration Hospital Friday and is now available at post offices nationwide.

"This stamp will pay tribute to the men and women whose sacrifices have allowed Americans to live in freedom," said Ken McArthur, Salt Lake City Postal District manager.

The Purple Heart is awarded in the name of the president of the United States to members of the U.S. military who have been wounded or killed in action.
