WEST POINT — Fast growing West Point City has received the 2003 Envision Utah Governor's Quality Growth Award for planning and design for its growth and development strategies.

The city, in northwest Davis County, is experiencing explosive residential growth and will see its population nearly quadruple by the time it is completely built out. The city's general plan, adopted last year, attracted the interest of Envision Utah because of its vision of various planning principles, including mixed-use developments, walk-ability as well as multiple zoning classifications to accommodate various commercial uses and higher residential densities near city center.
