SALT LAKE CITY — Larry H. Miller, chief executive officer of the Utah Jazz, Larry Miller Automobile dealerships, Jordan Commons, KJZZ-TV and some other Utah businesses, was honored May 22 with the "2003 Distinguished Utahn Award" by the Brigham Young University Management Society's Salt Lake and Utah Valley chapters.
"He's a most remarkable man," said President Gordon B. Hinckley in remarks at the banquet at the Church Office Building. "There are so many things he's done quietly."
One of Brother Miller's former bishops, David M. Brown, referred to Brother Miller as a frank and honest man who made a commitment to be active in his religion, as well as active in the business world.
The BYU Management Society has some 60 chapters throughout the world and about 7,000 members. Past recipients of the Distinguished Utahn award have included President Hinckley, Jon and Karen Huntsman, Jerold and JoAnn Ottley, LaVell Edwards and Rodney H. Brady.
