1920 ~ 2003

Marian Gardner passed away Friday, May 30, 2003, in Bountiful, Utah due to a long-suffering illness brought on by heart disease, diabetes and multiple strokes.

Marian was born Oct 22, 1920 in Granger, UT to Leroy M. Petersen and Evelyn Fern Hill. Marian married John E. "Jack" Gardner in the Logan, UT, LDS Temple on July 29, 1942.

Marian was raised in Granger, UT on a dairy farm. She graduated from Cyprus High School in Magna, UT and LDS Business College in Salt Lake City, UT. She worked for more than 20 years as a secretary and retired from Hercules, Inc. as an executive secretary for the plant manager. Prior to her working career, she served as a Relief Society President. She was an accomplished oil painter, worked numerous hours in genealogy, loved music and served as a church music director. She loved to knit, quilt, needlepoint, sew, garden, and play the violin, organ and piano. She and her husband, together, fulfilled a full-time mission in Washington D.C. for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved her family with all her heart and saw to it that family get-togethers were often.

Survived by husband, Jack Gardner; children, Marianne (Brad) Turpin, Greg (Susann) Gardner; six grandchildren; and five and a half great-grandchildren; sister, Jean Packard; and brother, Nelson Petersen. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Merrill and Grant; and sisters, Betsy, Dorothy, Norma and Joyce.

The family would like to thank Vista Care Hospice, Lakeview Hospital and Rocky Mtn. Care Center in Bountiful for their loving care.

Services will be 12 noon Tues. June 3, 2003 at the Magna Utah Stake Center, 3084 S. 8400 W. Friends may call Mon. 6-8 p.m. at the Peel Funeral Home, 8525 W. 2700 S., Magna, and Tues. 11-11:45 a.m. at the church. Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.
