- John Kelly Goodfellow, 69, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2003 following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born Nov 8, 1933, in Salt Lake City, UT, the son of Elmer Russell, and Helen Foster Goodfellow, but was raised and lived in Bountiful, UT, for 68 years.

Kelly joined the U.S. Navy January, 1951, and had the travel experience of a life-time seeing many places throughout his tour, receiving an honorable discharge in September, 1954. Kelly always had a great love for the flag and his country.

He married Donna Schell and was later divorced.

After joining the Bountiful Jeep Posse in 1958, he served as 2nd Captain (1962), 1st Captain (1973, and Commander, three times (1963, 1965, 1975). In addition to the Posse activities, he took great pleasure in hunting, fishing, camping and being in the outdoors.

His marriage to Barbara Olive Harris began in 1966 and she was the love of his life. She was his sole caretaker for many of the months prior to his death and he never wanted her to be very far away.

Kelly is survived by his wife, Barbara; two children and two stepchildren, Teresa (Steve) Jameson, Woods Cross, UT, Kelly (Tonna) Goodfellow, SLC, UT, Johnny (Kathleen) Harris, Centerville, UT, and Cheryl (Ray) Curtis, Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Jim (Sherry) Goodfellow, Bountiful, UT; and sister, Kathryn (Gary) Nye, Bountiful, UT. In addition to several nieces and nephews, he had eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and an infant son.

Memorial services will be Wed. June 4, 2003, 11 a.m. at the Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N. Main, Bountiful, UT. Friends and family may visit with the family at the mortuary Tuesday, June 3, 2003 6-8 p.m.

The family would like to express thanks to the doctors and nurses at the VA Hospital and Caresource Home Health and Hospice facility for the fine, compassionate care Kelly received.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Caresource Home Health and Hospice.
