1932 ~ 2003

Roger Kvamme Hanson, age 70, of Salt Lake City, Utah,

passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2003 in a Pembroke Pines, Florida hospital.

Roger was born November 24, 1932 on a farm near Aneta, North Dakota to Thora and Torris Hanson.

He is loved and survived by: his wife Gretchen; children Sharon Ann Hanson, Carolyn Knierim, Ronald Paul Hanson, and Michael Eric Hanson; brother Orvin Hanson and sisters Helen Gehrke and Phyllis Trostad. He is preceded in death by his sister Marjorie Hanson.

Roger was in the U.S. Navy, attended Mayville State Teacher College, University of Denver and Brigham Young University. His work experience ranged from farming, custom combining, aircraft mechanic, high school teacher, home builder, and finally librarian. From July 1973 to June 1995, he was Director of Libraries, University of Utah. He was active in state, regional, and national library associations and many accreditation teams for schools and colleges in the United States. He was a member of the Elks for 35 years. He was an executive steering committee member of the Franklin Quest Championship (Senior PGA Tournament) and the Park City Senior Classic golf tournament for many years.

The memorial service will be Wed. June 4, 2003, at 11 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 8575 S. 700 E. in Sandy, Utah.

Innichement will be in the new Freedom Memorial Fountain, Mountain View Cemetery, 3115 E. 7800 S. (Bengal Blvd) Cottonwood Heights, UT.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society.
