1925 ~ 2003

Bette B. Beck, 78, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt and friend to all who knew her, passed away on May 24, 2003 in Palm Springs, California.

She was born Jan 29, 1925 in Leavenworth, WA to Alice Lambert Keene and William Allen Burke and was given the name of Beatrice but went by Bette.

She grew up in Spokane, WA with her three sisters, Sally, Kathy and Patricia, and had a wonderful childhood thanks to a kind and loving mother. She married Keith Brinkerhoff on Feb 2, 1944 in San Francisco, CA and they had two sons, Keith Burke, born July 26, 1945, and Steven Keene, born Jan 17, 1947. Her two sons both passed away in their infancy and she later was divorced.

In 1947 she moved to Salt Lake City, UT and lived with her sister Pat and her family while employed at Standard Oil of California until 1959 when she moved to Hawaii while still working for the oil company. In 1963 she moved back to Salt Lake City, UT and later met and married Richard Beck in 1970. They lived in Salt Lake and later in Palm Springs, CA.

Bette was a kind and gracious lady who loved to garden in her yard of beautiful flowers. She was known for her thoughtfulness and kindness and will be missed by all who knew her. She had a great love of music and loved to travel with Dick until his death in 1987.

Bette is survived by her five nephews; one niece; 15 cousins; two step-sons and their families. She is preceded in death by her husband, mother, father, three sisters and two sons.

Services will be Tues. June 3, 2003, 12 noon in the Larkin Sunset Gardens Chapel, 1950 E. 10600 S., Sandy, UT, where friend may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Larkin Sunset Gardens.
