There are a few points in your editorial "Granite got it right on guns" (Readers' Forum, May 23) that I have to comment on. When you say, "School is no place for weapons," where would you say is a place for legal concealed carry weapons? The mall? The bus stop?

You say it would be ludicrous for a man with a weapon to teach Gandhi's philosophy of nonviolence.

How about a teacher in the National Guard just returned from Iraq?

You have a phobia about guns, but I haven't noticed a similar level of concern for people bringing cars to school. Guns are responsible for fewer than 1,000 accidental deaths each year, while there are more than 40,000 victims of car crashes. It seems that you are the ones with the unreasonable fears.
