Three musicals and a classic British comedy are among this week's new Wasatch Front stage openings.

"OKLAHOMA!" — the landmark Broadway musical that marked the first collaboration of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II — will play Friday-July 3 in Rodgers Memorial Theatre, 292 E. Pages Lane, Centerville.

Leslie Warwood is directing a mostly double-cast ensemble that includes Neal Sorensen and Doug Caldwell alternating as Curly, Brooke Lillianquist and Brooke Flinders as Laurey, Chris Brown and Kim Madsen as Aunt Eller, Justin Lee and Steve Plowman as Will Parker, Elizabeth Christensen and Heather Brown as Ado Annie, Vance Warburton and Darin Beardall as Jud Fry, and Josh Madsen, single-cast as Ali Hakim. Julie Hilton is choreographing the show.

Performances are 7:30 p.m. Mondays-Saturdays. Tickets are $12-$14 for adults, $11-$12 for students and senior citizens and $9 for children. Group rates are also available. For reservations, call 298-1302.

"SINGIN' IN THE RAIN," based on the classic MGM film musical, is being staged outdoors at Emerson-Smith College Museum, 1450 E. 300 North, Provo. The cast includes Josh Francis as Don Lockwood, Elicia Graham as Kathy Seldon, Jason Fullmer as Cosmo Brown and Katie Young as Lina Lamont. Lindsey Marriott will recreate Cyd Charisse's famous dance number.

Performances are 8:30 p.m., Mondays-Saturdays, beginning Monday and continuing through June 16. Prior to curtain time there will be a pre-show "Singin' in the Rain" trivia contest, with entertainment and prizes. "THE WIZARD OF OZ" brings Dorothy, Toto and the yellow brick road to the Heritage Community Theatre, 2505 S. Highway 89, Perry, for a three-week run, beginning Friday and continuing through June 28.

Kathy Rigby is directing the Royal Shakespeare Company version. Her cast includes Mickey Pace as Dorothy, Dalan Hilton as the Scarecrow, Rod Lundberg as the Tin Man, Brady Hodgson as the Cowardly Lion, Mindy Cameron as Glinda, the Good Witch; Bonnie W. Richardson as the Wicked Witch of the West, and John Rich as the Wizard.

Performances will be 7:30 p.m. Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays, with one Saturday matinee at 2 p.m. on June 14. Tickets are $6 for adults, $5 for children and senior citizens and $25 for a six-ticket "Monday-night special" pass. For reservations, call (435) 723-8392.

"THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST," Oscar Wilde's whimsical Victorian classic, is being staged by the Springville Playhouse, Friday through June 21, in conjunction with Springville's annual Art City Days celebration.

Director Jeremy Showgren's cast includes Joseph Wright as John "Jack" Worthing, Hollie Beard as Gwendolyn Fairfax, Jared Gillins as Algernon, Laura Wilson as Cecily, Robinne Booth as Lady Bracknell and Deborah Ann Morgan as Miss Prism.

Performances are 7:30 p.m., Friday, June 7, 9-13, 16 and 19-21, with one matinee at 4 p.m. on June 14. The playhouse is at 50 S. Main, in the basement of the Springville Library. Tickets are $6 for general admission, $4 for students, children and senior citizens or $20 for a family pass (up to six family members), available at the door or in advance at the library.
