- On June 13, 2003 Sheldon Jessup lost his beloved sweetheart, Rita Velate Francom Jessup, to a long term illness affecting her liver.
She was born March 31, 1936 in Payson, UT to James Derwin and Luella Brandt Francom.
She is survived by her husband; 10 children, Nita and Bryon Walston, Moab, Kevin and Marci Jessup, El Paso, TX, Velate and Merwin Taylor, Syracuse, Theron and Linda Jessup, Beaver, Phillip and Ralyn Jessup, Beaver, Tony and Georgia Jessup, Beaver, Eric and Lisa Jessup, Beaver, Rishel and Milton Stewart, Beaver, Jill and David Burrell, Clinton, Micah and Lili Jessup, Cedar City; brothers, Don Francom, Neil Francom, Norman Fran-com, Quinten Francom, Paul Francom; sisters, Kathy Powers, Diane Harward; and stepmother, Abby Francom. Rita was preceded in death by her mother when she was six months old; father; brother, Richard Francom; and stepmother, Velma Holden. Rita was a grandmother to 37; 26 grandsons, and 11 granddaughters, with two more grandchildren on the way.
Her greatest joy came from her children and grandchildren. She shared all she had including her talents of home bottling, reading and writing, crocheting, tatting, donut making, and storytelling. She left a great legacy to her posterity as well as the example of an exemplary life full of church service, missionary work, faith, patience, sacrifice and love. Rita was loved and admired by all who knew her. She will be missed deeply by her children and especially by her lover and sweetheart.
