WEST JORDAN <! > - William Wayne Sylvester, born July 7, l9l8 in Joseph, Utah to Tell J. and Minerva Johnson Sylvester. Passed away June l4, 2003 in Bennion, UT.

Married Frances Allen March 30, l939 in Salt Lake City, UT they shared 64 years of happiness together. He left high school in the l0th grade to work at Kennecott Copper so his father wouldn't have to work in the underground mines. Retired from Kennecott after 46 years of service as a Locomotive Engineer.

As a resident of West Jordan for 51 years he served the city as a volunteer fireman and had the honor of being appointed the first fire chief of West Jordan Fire Department. Dad loved his family, yard work, gardening and animals of all kinds. Fishing, hunting and travel were among his favorite pass times.Dad served proudly in the Army during World War II stationed in the Philippine Islands.

Preceded in death by a son, David; parents; sisters, Ruth, Darlene; brother, Clynn; son-in-law, Tom Howard; and grandchildren, LeAnn, Joshua, Jessica. Survived by his wife, Frances; daughter, Linda Howard, Spokane, WA; sons, William (Nancy) Riverton, John "Jack" (JoAnn), Taylorsville; and sister, Deon (Brant) Goulding. Salt Lake City.

In Lieu of Flowers donations can be made to Primary Children's Medical Center in the name of Christa Pyle, and Cooper Martin.

Services, Wed. 11 a.m. Broomhead Funeral Home, l2600 S. 2200 W, Riverton where friends may call Tues. 6-8 p.m. and Wed. one hour prior. Interment, West Jordan Cemetery.
