Leon C Oldroyd, 79 of Springville, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2003.

He was born May 10, 1924 in Glenwood, Utah to Andrew and Celia Christiana Sorensen Oldroyd.

Leon graduated from Richfield High School and attended BAC at Cedar City, Utah. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He later graduated from the University of Utah with a BA degree in Education. Leon was employed by Philtrol Corp. and State Farm Insurance, Co. where he retired. An accomplished musician, he gave many hours of pleasure on his piano right up to the time he left us. He loved to hunt and spend time with friends in the wilds of Utah. He was always there to help brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews whenever they needed him. He was a member of the Provo Elks Club.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Golden Living Orem for their care and concern in his behalf.

He is survived by sisters and brothers: Jennie (Heber) Winget of Monroe, UT; Berdean 'Dean' (Elsa) Oldroyd of Springville, UT; L. Klar (Barbara) Oldroyd of Richfield, UT; and Dona Verlene (Melvin) Redgers of Sandy, UT. He is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Roland A. (Faye) Oldroyd and sisters, Wanda (Clayton) Fike and Florine (Jack) Strang.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 17, 2003 at 11 a.m. in the Springville Stake Center, 698 Kolob Circle in Springville. A viewing for family and friends will be held at the church one hour prior to the services. Burial will take place in the Glenwood City Cemetery in Glenwood, UT under the direction of Wheeler Mortuary.
