Location: Orem

Role/mission: Type IIIA, offering associate and baccalaureate degrees and certificate and training programs that meet local employer needs. No graduate-level course work is offered except by arrangement with Type I or Type II schools. Emphasis is on teaching and on professional and creative efforts that complement that role, and on community service. Teachers spend an average of 27 credit hour equivalents per year in the classroom.

Admission requirements: All incoming students are tested for course placement and advising purposes. Remedial and prerequisite courses are available. Lower-division is open enrollment, but students must meet admissions criteria for upper-division courses and programs.

Enrollment 2002-03: 23,609 head count.

Degrees granted 2001-02: Certificates, 163; associate, 2,068; baccalaureate, 732; total, 2,981.

Tuition and fees 2002-03: Resident $2,196; nonresident $6,802 (two full semesters).
