Some of the thousands of marchers in the annual Salute to Israel parade respond with hostility to Orthodox Jewish protesters along the parade route on New York City's Fifth Avenue on Sunday. The protesters came to the parade held in celebration of the Jewish state's 55th birthday to show their objection to Zionism, holding up signs saying Jews were forbidden to have their own state before the coming of the Messiah. The Orthodox Jews weren't the only ones angered by the parade: At one point along the parade route, several dozen pro-Palestinian counterdemonstrators chanted "Occupation is a crime! Israel out of Palestine!"
