Catherine Call, 88, died June 20, 2003 in St. George, Utah due to causes incident to age. She left behind a legacy of service and love and will be sorely missed.

She was born March 31, 1915 in Pendleton, OR to Ella Luella Lewis and Paul Louis Kreft. She married Hugh Call in the LDS Salt Lake Temple Dec 19, 1939 and the couple celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary before Hugh passed away Jan 2001. Catherine made many loving friends wherever she lived including Glen-dale, CA, Montpelier, Twin Falls, ID, and the Monument Park area of Salt Lake City, UT.

When Catherine was five years old, her family situation changed and with her mother and brother moved to Pocatello, ID. It was here that Lawrence "Strat" Stratford came into her life and for the next 52 years provided her with a tender and constant father's love. In her younger years, Catherine developed an interest in dance, theater, speech, music, and singing, and enjoyed these activities her entire life. She was a master bridge player, enjoyed an association with the Toastmasters Club, and loved to announce at local fashion shows. She enjoyed acting and participated in many local theater productions.

Catherine had a loving and kind heart and was constantly involved in serving her family and others. She was a meeting house librarian more than 30 years. She volunteered at LDS Social Services and one of her special joys was holding adoptive babies just before they were given to their new families. She acted as a hostess at the Relief Society Building in downtown Salt Lake and was always available to anyone in need.

She is survived by her children, Merlin (Ruby), Fontana, CA, Kris Sarkady (Jim), Alpine, UT, Kevin (Marv), Centennial, CO, Brooke (Jan) St. George, UT; brother, Charles "Chic" Stratford (Tirza), Salt Lake City, UT, 11 grand-children; and nine great-grandchil-dren. Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh; and brother, Paul Kreft.

A special thanks must be said to the wonderful care givers at the Meadows Retirement Community, St. George, UT who made mother's last years so comfortable and were so loving.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wed. June 25, 2003, Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 E. 1300 S, Salt Lake City. Friends and family may call Tues. June 24, 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the mortuary. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
