Our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend, Carl John Copes passed away June 24, 2003 after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born February 27, 1923 in Highland Park, Michigan to Zefferino and Victoria Sylvestre Copes. Married Gayle S. Copes on November 8, 1975. Member of the Catholic Church. Served in the U. S. Army Air Corps and Marines, during World War II, Pearl Harbor, the Korean War and Vietnam Conflict. He retired from the Tooele Army Depot in April of 1980.

Carl was a wonderful husband and father and cherished his children and grandchildren. Through all his trials his concern still remained for others. He was a great example to all of us, and he will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Gayle, and Charlie, his trusted canine friend. Children, Sandra Louise (Jim) Cooper, Melodie Sue Adams, Del Ray (Karen) Copes, Terrie Lynn (Jerry) Carter, Antoinette Marie (Scott) Jacobs, and Lynne Rae (George) Williams. Brother, Rene (Mary) Copes. Sisters, Elaine Tuttle and Delores Bard. 33 grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father and sister, Virginia Jones.

A funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 715 West 300 North. A vigil service will be held Friday at 7:00 p.m. at Neil O'Donnell and Sons Mortuary, 372 East 100 South, where friends may call from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. Committal: Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 4th Avenue and T Street.
