Due to some air-conditioning concerns, the Tower Theatre, 876 S. 900 East, will shut down its daytime and evening film programs during July and August.
According to Salt Lake Film Society President Brooke Harper, the move is being made "to protect patrons from the moderate discomfort that stems from the Tower's antiquated air-conditioning system."
However, the Tower's weekend midnight movie programming will continue, as will the theater's video-rental business. Daytime and evening programming will resume Sept. 5.
In the meantime, the Broadway Centre Cinemas downtown will offer daily early matinees. For information on Salt Lake Film Society programs, call 321-0310 or browse the film society Web site at www.saltlakefilmsociety.org.
