A Davis School District Foreign Language Supervisor was recently recognized with a Distinguished Service Award from the Intermountain Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages.

Anabel Pinero received the award during the organization's conference in Twin Falls, Idaho.

"Dr. Pinero has been one of those unsung heroes who has attempted to bring understanding for the advancement of mankind through her dedication in teaching about culture and heritage," Lawrence Carrillo, teacher, principal and director of federal programs wrote in his letter nominating Pinero for the award.

Pinero began working for Davis School District in 1977 as an English as a second language supervisor.
