1909 ~ 2003
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Ruben Elmer Mower, age 93 of Spring Lake, passed away Monday, June 2, 2003.
He was born July 8, 1909 in Clear Creek, Utah, son of James Elmer Ray and Vilate Melissa Ames Mower.
He married Della Butler, June 27, 1934 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized June 8, 1950 in the Manti LDS Temple.
Elmer had an exceptional ability to love, care, and accept everyone, family, friends, or strangers. He retired from the Burgen Mine and began the life he loved of farming and raising sheep. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in numerous capacities including: a temple worker for 15 years; member of the Bishopric; Young Men's President; Stake Missionary; home teacher; and had the unique ability to make everybody smile.
Survivors include: his wife, Della; two daughters and a son, Della Mae Nelson, Murray; Jim B. (ShinJa) Mower, Mary M. Miller, all of Spring Lake; a daughter-in-law, Donna Mower, Altamont; 23 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; one brother and three sisters, Lawrence Mower, Payson; Nora Llewellyn, Helper, Naomi Trujillo, East Price; and Belle Prince, Payson. He was preceded in death by: a son, Henry "Lamar" Mower; five sisters and three
brothers.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 6, 2003, 11:00 a.m., in the Spring Lake 2nd Ward Chapel, 12625 Spring Lake Rd. Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary, 587 South 100 West, Payson, Wednesday, 6-8:00 p.m. or at the church Thursday, 9:45-10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Payson City Cemetery.
