Together Again
Elsie M. Shearer passed away June 2, 2003.
She was born February 15, 1921 in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of Fred and Alice Sawyer. She married Harry A. Shearer, August 10, 1938 in Baltimore. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on February 4, 1951. They were the parents of four children.
Elsie was very active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served two Stake Missions in Baltimore and Utah. She most loved her calling in the Los Angeles Temple where she and her husband Harry worked as managers of the LDS Temple Apartments in Los Angeles.
Elsie is survived by her children, Arthur (Sue) Shearer, John (Layle) Shearer, Evelyn (Wallace) Petersen, and Frank (Debby) Shearer; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grand-children; four great-great-grand-children; and sister, Alice Evans.
A special thanks to her doctors, Mark Oliver and Steven Richardson, and the hospice nurses who gave Elsie such wonderful and loving care.
A viewing will be held Thursday, June 5th, from 7 - 9 p.m. at Memorial Mortuary, 5850 South 900 East. Interment, Rose Hills Cemetery, CA.
