Country music stars Marty Stuart and Merle Haggard announced the start of a summer concert tour they say will be part tent show and part honky-tonk.

The Electric Barnyard Tour opens July 6 in Sierra Vista, Ariz. Also scheduled to perform are BR549, Connie Smith, Rhonda Vincent & The Rage and The Old Crow Medicine Show.

Stuart said the road show was created with the idea of bringing big-name entertainment to areas that seldom host such events.

"I designed the event to play in small towns and rural atmospheres throughout America, taking various forms of country music back to the people," he said at Monday's news conference.

"We're going back to remember the forgotten ones," said the 66-year-old Haggard.

The tour will include stops in California, Oregon, Washington, Iowa, Illinois, Georgia, Kentucky, Virginia, Missouri, Ohio, Indiana and Michigan, according in Stuart's Web site.

Stuart said tickets will be $25 each in advance and $30 each at the door.
