Lloyd Ichiro Okawa, 78, passed away of a massive heart attack on May 31, 2003, while visiting family in Los Angeles, Ca.

Lloyd was born on November 13, 1924 in San Francisco, Ca; the first-born son of Fukuzo and Rii Okawa. He resided in the Bay Area until World War II, when the family was interned at Heart Mountain relocation camp in Wyoming. After the war, the family settled in Salt Lake City. Lloyd married Martha Nodzu on August 3, 1953 and worked as an auto mechanic until his retirement. He enjoyed gatherings and trips with family, the weekly Saturday night poker games with friends, and took pride in his vegetable garden every summer. His latest joy was the birth of his grandson, Alexander Shoichi in February 2003.

Lloyd is survived by wife Martha, daughter Karen, son Alan, daughter-in-law Allison, and grandson Alex, all Salt Lake City; brother Ben (Tomi), Sun Lakes, AZ; sister Ruth Kanemasu (Don), Sacramento, CA; sister-in-law Kiyo, Bountiful, Utah. He also leaves behind many uncles, aunts, cousins, in-laws, nieces, nephews and close friends. Preceded in death by parents, brothers Paul and Ted.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday June 7, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at Mountain View Memorial Mortuary 3115 East 7800 South. Friends may call Friday June 6, 2003 from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services. Interment, Mountain View Memorial Cemetery.
