Ted Wilson, former Salt Lake mayor and noted Utah Democrat, has announced he will resign as director of the Hinckley Institute of Politics at the University of Utah effective Sept. 1.
Wilson, who co-writes a political column for the Deseret News with LaVar Webb, has headed the institute since 1985.
"I leave with mixed emotions," he said. "There are some opportunities out there. My plan is to do some political consulting. I truly hate to leave the Hinckley Institute of Politics, though. I love my job, the university and my time with students and politicians. It is the best job anywhere."
