Higher education lost a great friend and champion with the death of Dr. Curt Fawson. During Curt's years at BYU, he did much to assist faculty members in introducing and integrating electronic media into their classroom presentations. His creative mind and love for education helped to improve the quality of education at BYU and at Southern Virginia University. Curt's friendly and outgoing personality coupled with his integrity lifted everyone around him.

Although few in the West knew of Curt's challenges at Southern Virginia, he literally transformed and saved that campus. If memory serves me right, the college had fewer than 100 students when Curt arrived to take over the post as the college's provost. Today the college is an accredited university with more than 500 students.

Curt's legacy will be found in the positive impact that he had on his students.
