ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Point guard Tyronn Lue agreed to a two-year, $3 million deal with the Orlando Magic, a source within the NBA told The Associated Press on Friday.

The five-year veteran, who played last season for the Washington Wizards, will join the team next week, according to the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The Magic also signed rookie guard Reece Gaines to a three-year, $3.15 million contract. Gaines, from Louisville, was drafted 15th overall.

Lue averaged 8.6 points and 3.5 assists as a reserve for Washington. It will be his first chance to be a starter in the NBA, although the Magic expect Gaines to eventually take over at point guard.

With Lue, Gaines and second-round draft pick Keith Bogans, the Magic revamped their backcourt, aside from NBA scoring champion Tracy McGrady.

Former Jazzman Jacque Vaughn, who started 48 games at point guard for Orlando, wasn't asked back. And fan favorite Darrell Armstrong is unlikely to return, as the Magic are leery of the 35-year-old free agent's age and contract demands.

Lue is the Magic's second free-agent acquisition of the week. Forward Juwan Howard signed a five-year contract Wednesday.
