SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Olmeca Little League of Mexico City became the first team to qualify for this year's Little League World Series.

Olmeca, which won the Mexican Region championship Sunday in Hermosillo, will be joined by Khovrino Little League of Moscow and Arabian American Little League of Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.

Olmeca is the 19th Mexican team to reach the Little League World Series, but the first from Mexico City.

Khovrino will play in its third Little League World Series after beating Rotterdam (Netherlands) Little League 18-0 in the championship of the European Region tournament on Tuesday in Kutno, Poland.

Arabian American won its fourth consecutive regional championship Wednesday, beating Ramstein (Germany) Little League 8-0 in the Trans-Atlantic title game, also in Kutno. In eight games, Arabian American outscored its opponents 87-7.

The Latin American and Caribbean championships are scheduled for this weekend, with the Pacific, Asian and Canadian title games set for early August. The U.S. regional championships are Aug. 9-12. The Little League World Series begins Aug. 15 in South Williamsport.
