CH2M Hill to move to Parkside Tower

Business wants to be more active in community

CH2M Hill will move its Salt Lake office to the Parkside Tower in downtown Salt Lake City, effective Nov. 21.

Jim Schwing, vice president and Utah area manager for CH2M Hill, said the company has signed an agreement to occupy the 10th floor of the Parkside building, 215 S. State, with an option for additional space on the ninth floor.

"And with the way business is going right now, we may be taking that option sooner than we expected," Schwing said.

The company employs 75 people in Utah, specializing in infrastructure project delivery in the environmental, water/wastewater and transportation industries.

Schwing said the move downtown represents the company's desire to become more visible and active in the local business community through charitable work and involvement with business associations like the Salt Lake Chamber and Downtown Alliance. The Parkside Tower will bear the company's logo on its south-facing exterior wall.

"In any city where we have a major office, we belong downtown," Schwing said. "In the case of Utah, downtown Salt Lake City is the cultural, government and business heart of the state.

"Moving downtown gives us an opportunity to help work with legislators, the core city, and to contribute back to the core city in terms of community involvement. We want to participate more directly."

CH2M Hill is headquartered in Colorado. It has had an office in Salt Lake City for nearly 25 years. Major projects include the TRAX light rail line to the University of Utah and Medical Center, and water and wastewater projects for the Salt Lake City Public Utilities department.
