Obituary: Geneva Wood Anderson

1911 ~ 2003

Geneva Wood Anderson, 92, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died September 8, 2003 of causes incident to age.

She was born March 29, 1911 in Nephi, Utah, daughter of Jefferson Adam and Mabel Sperry Wood. As a young girl she moved to Welby, a watering stop for trains in Salt Lake County. She attended a one-room school and later rode a school bus to West Jordan. At age 15 she moved to Midvale and attended Jordan High School. She married Joseph Mansel Knight, August 28, 1929; he died April 26, 1950. Married LaMar Anderson, June 20, 1953; later divorced. Worked in the bookbinding business for many years, first at Mountain States Bindery, then at Stevens and Wallace. She later worked at the University of Utah Printing Service until her retirement at age 70.

She was an avid photographer at family gatherings. A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served as a Relief Society Homemaking Leader in two different wards and was known for her creativity and original ideas. Memories of that service were special to her.

Survived by two sons and two daughters, J. Hal (Ursula) Knight, Ronald LaMar Anderson, Bonny Flanigan and JoAnn Hicks; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

A brief family viewing will be held Thursday, 12:00 noon at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, followed by graveside services at Valley View Memorial Park, 4500 West 4100 South.
