Obituary: Jacob Butler Owens

"We Love You Jake"

Our beloved brother, son, and uncle, Jacob Butler Owens, passed away in the early hours of September 9, 2003 after an accidental gunshot to the head.

Jacob was born on March 14, 1991 in Murray, Utah. He is the ninth of ten children of Bill and Marilyn Owens, of South Jordan, Utah.

Jacob was recently ordained a deacon in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was actively involved in the scouting program. He loved to play basketball, soccer, and any other sport. Jake had a gift for music and enjoyed playing the piano and singing with his family.

Throughout his life, Jacob has always been a joy to those around him. More than anything he loved playing games with his family and would always be the first to get everyone playing.

Jacob excelled in his schoolwork and was a very gifted student. He loved making new friends and could always bring a smile to your face.

He will be missed by many friends and family members. He is survived by his parents Bill and Marilyn; his siblings Melissa, Christina (Kevin), Jared, Justin (Kati), Nathan, Sarah, Katie, Isaac, and Nicholas; and his niece and nephews Sydney, Gavin and Kyle. We all look forward to being reunited with him. You will be missed.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Sept 12, 12:00 noon at the South Jordan River Ridge Stake Center, 10191 S. 1000 W. Family and friends may call Thurs. 6-8 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Pkwy. (10600 So.) and Friday 10:30-11:30 at the church.
