Obituary: Dee Wayne Schvaneveldt

1921 ~ 2003

Our beloved husband, father, and loved one, age 82, quietly passed away in his home in West Valley City, September 6, 2003.

He was born on May 28, 1921 in Logan, Utah to Joseph Hyrum Schvaneveldt and Mayme Carlson Schvaneveldt. Married Betty Bench (divorced), Doris Pruett (divorced) and Evelyn Crawford (married and sealed in Salt Lake City Temple). Dee graduated from Logan High School as student body president. He served an LDS mission in Hastings, Nebraska. He was a World War II veteran. He served as Branch President in Bandon, Oregon. Dee and his brother, Dale, owned a golf course in Bandon, Oregon. Later, Dee became superintendent of the Salt Lake City golf courses. Dee worked in Logan, Salt Lake City and Jordan River temples for many years. Dee especially loved temple and genealogy work.

Survived by his wife, Evelyn, three sons, Roger, Arizona; Tim (Norma), Texas; Dee Wayne, Jr. (Sue), Oregon; two step children, Lee A. Caldwell (Vicki), California; Sharlene (Michael) Thomas, Taylorsville; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Jack, Montana; and Gordon, Kaysville; and one sister, Carol Stuart, Oregon. Dee was preceded in death by three brothers, Dale, Clyde and Calder, and one step-son, Russell A. Caldwell.

Funeral services are Saturday, Sept. 13, at 11 a.m., Granger 14th Ward, 2101 West 3100 South. Viewing at Deseret Mortuary, 36 East 700 South, Friday, Sept. 12, 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services at church. Interment, Riverton City Cemetery.
