More than a thousand homeless dogs and cats will be looking for love at the annual Super Pet Adoption this weekend. Animals from dozens of Utah animal shelters and rescue groups will be practicing their canine and feline wiles on potential owners today from 2-7 p.m.; Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Sunday from 12-5 p.m. The adoption will be held in the PETsMART parking lot at 189 W. 1830 South in Salt Lake City.
The event will also feature music, food, drinks, a kids' activity area and a raffle. Veterinarians will be available to check the health of adopted pets; professional groomers will provide tips; and dog trainers will offer demonstrations.
The Super Pet Adoption is a component of the No More Homeless Pets In Utah, a program of Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, which has a goal of ending euthanasia of healthy, adoptable pets in the state by 2005. For more information, visit www.utahpets.org.
