Obituary: Jay Rile Deuel

1921 ~ 2003

Jay Rile Deuel, age 82, of Spring Lake, passed away Friday, September 12, 2003 at his home.

He was born March 14, 1921 in Panguitch, Utah, a son of George Rile and Laura Blanchette Myers Deuel. He married Norma Lea Henline, September 6, 1941 at Coalville, Utah. She preceded him in death November 2, 1990. Their marriage was solemnized in the Provo Temple. He married Geneve Smith, February 21, 1991 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Jay graduated from Payson High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired from Kennecott Copper Corporation. He loved children, the land, and animals.

(Sophia) Deuel, Hurricane, Carolynn (Ronald) Tranmer, Woodland Hills; five stepdaughters and five stepsons, Joan (LaVon) Walston, Conrad, MT, Douglas (Carma) Cornell, American Fork, Carolyn (Rod) Chorman, Pleasant Grove, Louise Cornell, Sterling, VA, Kathryn (Neil) Petersen, Salt Lake, Lasca (Gus) Wood, Orem, Jared (Bre) Cornell, Salt Lake, Roger (Ellen) Cornell, Pleasant Grove, Ralph (Susan) Cornell, American Fork, David (Carmen) Cornell, Reston, VA; 20 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchild-ren; 41 step-grandchildren; 43 step-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Phyllis Angel, St. George. He was preceded in death by a sister, Nedra Deuel; a daughter, Sylvia Deuel; a grandson and a great-grandson.

Services will be Wednesday, September 17, 2003, 11:00 a.m., in the Spring Lake 1st Ward Chapel, 12625 South Spring Lake Road. Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary, 587 South 100 West, Payson, Tuesday, 6-8 p.m. or at the church on Wednesday, 9:45-10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Payson City Cemetery with military rites accorded by the American Legion, Dist. #4.
