A suspicious house fire in Salt Lake County this week caused about $40,000 damage.
The fire was reported about 9:15 p.m. Tuesday at a house near 1850 West and 4200 South. When crews arrived they found flames shooting through the swamp cooler, said Salt Lake County Fire Capt. Jay Ziolkowski.
Once inside the house crews found another fire near one of the downstairs bedrooms. Investigators determined there were multiple points of origin for the fire, which is why they consider it suspicious, Ziolkowski said.
The homeowner was inside the house at the time of the fire and was treated for minor smoke inhalation.
The house was recently repossessed and being renovated.
